Getting breast augmentation is an exciting step in your life, but waiting for your results to develop can feel unnerving. Your breast implant surgery, however, is not the final step in creating your ideal results. There are actually ways you can encourage better breast augmentation results during the recovery process so you get the most out of your breast implants.
-
Daily Massage
Massaging your breasts on a daily basis after getting breast augmentation helps encourage your tissue, muscles and skin to slowly accommodate your new implants. This is a process called implant settling, and helps create the most natural looking results. Ask your surgeon for tips on how to massage your breasts to most effectively aid the healing process.
-
Proper Support
Your breasts are now larger than you’re used to, and that also means they’re heavier. Make sure that you provide your new breasts with proper support so they aren’t shifting toward the ground. You’ll likely want to stick to a supportive sports bra as you recover, which also has the benefit of being more comfortable than most traditional bras. If your surgeon recommends a special post-surgical bra instead, be sure to follow all post-operative instructions regarding garment use as your breasts heal.
-
Get Enough Rest
Resting up during the healing process may seem like more of a psychological tip than a factor in developing the best augmentation results, but your body needs rest after undergoing surgery to maintain optimal comfort levels and minimize swelling. Avoiding unnecessary movements also decreases any risk of irritation of the incision sites and bleeding. Be sure to spend lots of time off your feet for the first week of recovery so your body has time to heal.
