Whether we like it or not, celebrities significantly influence how we look – the way we dress, have our hair cut, do our makeup. Every era has its idols. In the last decade, it’s definitely Kim Kardashian (along with her sisters).
While most are happy just following the makeup trends like JLo’s signature highlighter, some people go the extra mile and undergo cosmetic procedures celebrities swear by. From the less invasive beauty treatments like microblading and silk peel, to the creepy vampire facial and new strategies in the battle against cellulite, here’s top 5 popular procedures celebrities are opting for at the moment.
Microblading
The Kardashian clan has changed the definition of styled eyebrows. Instead of thin, tweezed eyebrows, everyone is filling in their brows one way or another. Microblading treatment for eyebrows is a form of semi-permanent makeup extremely popular among influencers. The procedure itself is similar to tattooing; pigments are injected into the skin and lines are drawn between the natural hairs. The microblading artist modifies the shape of the eyebrows and fills in sparse patches, giving the illusion of lush eyebrows in the style of KKW.
The results of microblading last up to two years. Once your eyebrows are done, they are here to stay, so it’s extremely important to A) find a skilled artist who knows what they’re doing and B) be vocal and particular about the look you desire. As with every procedure that involves the penetration of skin, there’s always a risk of infection, so make sure the artist is professional and keeps their tools clean. Bottom line, if you’re considering having your brows microbladed, choose a certified artist who has gone through a thorough microblading training course.
Silk Peel
For celebrities, facials are part of their routine. High end dermatologists are super busy during the award season, and the Silk Peel was one of the most popular treatments this year. It takes care of any redness, sun spots, discoloration and bumps on the face. It also hydrates and makes the skin look younger and radiant.
The Silk Peel treatment is done with a special state-of-the-art device called SilkPeel Dermalinfusion that exfoliates the skin and infuses it with serums suited to the skin type of the client, performing lymphatic drainage at the same time. About a week after the procedure, your skin is glowing, pores are invisible and your face is red-carpet ready.
Fillers
Dermal fillers are number one most sought after treatment right now. There is virtually no celeb who hasn’t had fillers injected into some part of their face. That’s the thing about fillers; they can be injected into your lips, cheeks, around the eyes or mouth, into any wrinkle you want to get rid of… You name it.
Dermal fillers have basically replaced Botox. They are much less invasive, as they don’t affect facial muscles, but rather smooth out the skin covering them, making it look plump and lush for 3-6 months. A few years back, most fillers were collagen, but nowadays it’s mostly hyaluronic acid which our bodies produce naturally (just not enough of it).
The Vampire Facial
A few month back, Kim K has shocked us with the Vampire facial, or the platelet-rich plasma treatment. It may sound a bit freaky and, well, it is.
But it’s quite straightforward at the same time. What this procedure means is injecting your own blood into your face (by microneedling or in the same way fillers are injected, accompanied by microdermabrasion) to add volume to the skin and stimulate the production of collagen and the overall cell vitality.
This procedure is a bit pricey, but KKW and Bar Rafaeli swear by it.
VelaShape
Cellulite is the number one enemy of women of all ages, shapes and sizes. Yes, even celebs have it. Each of them has a different way of battling it, but VelaShape has emerged as a particularly effective solution (again, thanks Kim K).
VelaShape is a non-invasive body contouring treatment for cellulite reduction. In just three sessions, the combination of infrared light, bi-polar radio frequency energy and vacuum improves the overall texture and appearance of your thighs and abdomen, but many other areas can be treated, too.
It’s important to note that this is not a weight loss treatment, though.
