With more and more injectable filler providers popping up, it can be daunting to begin the process of choosing the best one for your upcoming treatment. However, knowing what to look for in a med spa and doing a little research upfront can go a long way when it comes to finding a reputable, experienced provider in your area.
If your injectable provider checks all of these boxes, you can rest assured your filler results are in excellent hands.
1. The Supervising Physician Is Highly Involved
Even if you are receiving your injections from another trained medical professional within the practice, the supervising plastic surgeon should be involved in the day-to-day operations and should be available to consult directly in special cases if needed.
Additionally, nonsurgical med spa treatments like injectable fillers can often complement surgical cosmetic procedures, so it is beneficial to have a plastic surgeon available to discuss your options and create a customized plan based on your unique needs and goals.
2. The Price Is Realistic
Paying a little more for a reputable, experienced and highly qualified injectable provider is well worth it in the long run.
This is not to say that you can’t ever snap up a deal or discount from a reputable plastic surgeon’s office. However, if the price of injectable fillers sounds way too good to be true, it probably is. You should never choose a med spa provider based on price alone, and always be on the lookout for red flags like unrealistic pricing, a constantly changing list of practitioners, uncertified practitioners or services offered out of someone’s home or other questionable space.
3. The Practice Offers a Full Spectrum of Services
It can be another red flag if the only cosmetic treatments that a practice offers are injectables. Fillers aren’t necessarily the right option for everyone, so there should be a wide array of options available that you can choose from to suit your individual needs. Providers should also be properly trained and certified in administering the full range of products and services offered.
4. Your Provider Is Transparent
Don’t be afraid to ask to see the packaging of the filler product to ensure you are getting what you think you are and that the product has not been unnecessarily diluted. Your injectable provider should be fully transparent about the products that he or she is using, the sterility of all instruments used and should not try to upsell you anything if the product or service is not a clear match for your needs and goals.
5. You’ve Seen Before and After Photos on Their Website
Be sure to look at before and after injectable filler photos from the practice before booking your appointment. These photos should be readily available online and should show a noticeable improvement without looking fake or “overdone.”
Photos should also be taken in a medical setting with a clean background and the same lighting in the before vs. after. If the before and after photos appear to have been edited or altered in any way, this provider is probably not for you.
