Although it consistently ranks within the top five most popular cosmetic surgeries performed every year, breast augmentation is anything but one-size-fits-all. Implants come in a variety of sizes and shapes to meet the specific needs of each individual patient. Breast implants also come in different profiles, which can be one of the hardest aspects of appearance to understand.
Profiles Equal Projection
The simplest way to understand how your results will look is to remember that profiles equal projection. There are several different options for breast implant profiles: high, moderate plus, moderate and low. Each profile offers a different result, even in implants that are the exact same size. High profile implants are narrow at the base and designed to project out further from the body. A moderate profile implant has a slightly wider base, so it doesn’t extend out quite so far. If a high profile implant were set next to a moderate profile implant of the same volume on a table, the high profile would stand taller and skinnier. High profile implants are often used in younger women whose breasts are naturally higher and fuller, or for women who want more dramatic cleavage. Moderate plus and moderate implants are ideal for a very natural look in more mature women. Low profile implants are often best for women with wider chests. Choosing the right breast implant profile is part of getting the look you want. Be sure to work closely with your surgeon at Davis Plastic Surgery to determine which option is going to be right for you.
